  • An energy work session with Bonita takes me from feeling uncentered and anxious, to feeling calm, grounded, and grateful to be here. Bonita radiates a loving and positive energy that is truly felt throughout the session. They make you feel head, held, and cared for. They are an absolute gem of a human and energy worker.

  • Bonita did an incredible job cultivating a safe environment & making me feel seen. This has been incredibly helpful. After our session I feel like I am finally able to move through so many of my energetic blockages & I feel like myself again. I cannot thank them enough for the love and intention they put into their practice.

  • Before some of our sessions, I've felt stressed and "untethered". After, I've felt more grounded, relaxed, and connected to my inner-self & wisdom. In the days following our sessions, I've also experienced more clarity--not necessarily in that I feel like I have all the answers to all the things, but accessing my inner-self & wisdom is much easier the first few days post-session. I've also been amazed at how some of the insights we've discovered together in sessions will unfold weeks, even months, following. Energy work with Bonita is cool as fuck!!!!

  • Bonita’s presence in my life is a gift. Anyone who meets Bonita is enchanted. Her deep way of knowing and listening is so grounding, kind and caring that I leave her cozy, colorful room not only feeling better braced for the future, but feeling more hopeful about the world. She has found her niche and to witness that, much less benefit from it, is a humbling experience that has gently and gracefully nudged my life into warmer waters.  I’m so grateful for our biweekly sessions and recommend her whole-heartedly to anyone looking to heal, pause, reflect, recharge, and make discoveries within and without their inner landscapes.

Frequently asked questions

  • Unfortunately I am unable to accept insurance. I use a sliding scale pricing model to try and make my services more accessible. Check out more info on that here.

  • Modeled after sliding scale principles, I use a tiered pricing system so that you, and your community members can access my healing services with more ease. Read more info on pricing and choosing the right payment tier here.

  • Gosh, I’m so glad you’re wondering about this. Reiki is ALWAYS done with clothes on. One of the things that I love about doing energy work is how the practice can often feel safer and less vulnerable for the clients since you are never expected to undress.

  • I can work around whatever you’re wearing, so there’s no need to stress about an outfit change! But…..for more specific direction here……. the most important thing is that you wear something that helps you feel comfortable in your body. Beyond that, anything that is lightweight and that moves well with your body is generally easiest for me to work with.

  • As a member of the LGBTQ2S+ community, I strive to make my space and my practice inclusive and affirming. I proudly and lovingly work with many LGBTQ2S+ clients to help create a sense of wholeness and belonging through my energy work offerings.

  • My practice is informed by three pillars of training and experience: Reiki, Shiatsu, and my own Mesoamerican lineage/roots in Curanderismo. Both Reiki and Shiatsu are hands-on healing practices that come from Japan, and are practiced completely clothed. This aspect of my practice makes bodywork accessible to a wider range of clients–who might otherwise be intimidated by traditional massage. Reiki involves light touch, with open palms in a fixed location. When I am practicing Reiki, I am opening myself up as a conduit for what is thought to be “Universal Life Force.” In other words, I am neither giving my own energy to the client, nor taking anything from them. This is a practice of listening to the landscape of my client’s body while acting as a clear channel to allow that mysterious force—which makes the seasons change, and life come into being— to flow into the client wherever it is most needed. This treatment is relaxing and gentle, yet also profound. It offers respite to an over-active nervous system, and allows the body to engage in its innate ability for self-healing. It is supportive for emotional, mental, and spiritual strife. Often, shifts on this level can support shifts on the physical level as well. I will often start and end my sessions with Reiki, and will weave this modality in as I see fit.

I am also a student of Zen Shiatsu, which is a Japanese style of manual bodywork rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) philosophies. This type bodywork benefits muscle tension, body alignment, and general relaxation much like massage. At the same time, it enhances range of motion and flexibility similar to yoga. But Shiatsu also reaches a deeper level, supporting the health of internal organs and emotions—as seen in Acupuncture. The word Shiatsu literally translates to “finger pressure,” as this practice involves treatment of TCM meridians and acupoints using hands, elbows, knees, and supported stretches. Shiatsu is a hands-on approach to accessing the body’s natural energetic qualities. It treats the body as a whole, promoting one’s natural tendency towards mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Each treatment utilizes comprehensive traditional frameworks like Five Element Theory, Yin-Yang, and the meridian system to curate a session specific to the client and their current situation. Unlike routine massage, Shiatsu sessions shift and adapt with the client’s growth. This creates a healing environment with infinite possibility for achieving wholeness. Shiatsu offers benefits for chronic pain, anxiety, depression, digestive issues, struggles with sleep, challenges with menstruation, immune deficiencies, and more.

Lastly, my sessions weave in a thread of my own ancestral healing by drawing on my personal studies of Curanderismo. Curanderismo is a holistic folk-healing tradition rooted in Latin America which involves plant healing, massage, heart-to-heart talks known as “pláticas,” and spiritual ritual. This pillar often comes through in my sessions as a comprehensive check-in prior to starting our session ( una plática), plant-spirit communication (plant healing), and guided meditation (spiritual ritual).

  • Each energy work session exists as a singular, unique experience. No two sessions will ever feel the same. I utilize my ituition, and a deeply present check-in process to help me assess your energetic landscape. Each session is uniquely strategized to meet you wherever you are at in that given moment.

Here are some common sensations that clients report:

    • warmth or vibration emanating from my hands

    • sparks of connection between different areas in the body (ex: I’m working on your feet, but you feel a sparkling connection at the crown of your head)

    • seeing images, clear or blurred

    • seeing bright colors

    • mild light-headedness

    • feeling as though you are falling asleep

NOTE: this is a list of possibilities to help you get an idea of what you may experience in a session with me. There is no right or wrong way to experience energy work. Trust that whatever comes through to you is exactly what you need in that moment of time.
